How to Measure Your Body
Taking good self-measurements is quick and easy, but it lays the foundation for everything else you do in the fashion sphere.

First, let me say this:
The numbers that describe your body are morally neutral. They have nothing to do with your worth as a person.
You are worthy of so much, and clothes that fit well are just the tip of the iceberg. I promise.
The one trick to this exercise is that you’ll need another person to assist. It’s really, really hard to get accurate measurements when you’re trying to hold the tape measure in the right place and read it at the same time.
We’re going to use eBay’s guidelines for measuring your body:

Bust: With your arms at your side, place the tape measure around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms. Make sure that the tape measure remains parallel to the floor.

Waist: While standing, wrap the tape measure around your natural waistline. Keep the tape comfortably loose.

Hips: While standing with your feet together, wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your body between your waist and your knees. This is approximately 8 inches below your waist. Make sure that the tape measure remains parallel to the floor.

Also: You may also want to measure your wrist, arm above and below the elbow, ankles, leg above and below the knee, and foot length and width. Each of these will come in handy when figuring out sizing for certain clothes and accessories.
Write down each of these measurements and put them in a safe place (or type them into a text file and save them in your Body Positive folder).
Now, when you buy clothing online, you’ll have a useful way to tell whether clothing will fit.
